The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has explained why fuel lineups have resurfaced in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and other parts of the country.

IPMAN blamed the scarcity on an insufficient supply of petrol from Lagos depots.

Mr. Chinedu Okoronkwo, President of IPMAN, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in response to the resurgence of petrol queues in various parts of the country, particularly in Abuja.

Okoronkwo noted that the current crisis between Russia and Ukraine has hampered the smooth distribution of petrol, making it impossible for marketers and transporters to cross supplies from depots to other parts of the country.

"The tremendous amount spent on running the diesel vehicles to transfer gasoline is quite disappointing because we are losing money," he remarked. The existing N165 per liter pump price for PMS cannot be reconciled with current circumstances until the pricing template is changed.

As a result, he urged the Buhari administration to investigate the matter and provide palliatives to all marketers in order to restore normalcy to distribution or to reconsider the freight cost.

A palliative may be making diesel available at low prices to marketers so that we can easily move things around the country.
