Bournemouth played hosts to Manchester City at the Vitality stadium, a fixture which saw a flurry of chances for both sides but ended with a solitary goal for the away side.

Manchester City came into the game on the back of a 1-0 victory against Brentford and Bournemouth on the other hand played out a 2-2 draw against Newcastle United.

Bournemouth have come against City 14 times prior to this and they have not for once taken a single point off the Cityzens, as a matter of fact the last three matches ended in an aggregate score of 14-2, the most one-sided fixture in Premier League history.

Bournemouth certainly didn't come to get battered this time as they brought the game to the Cityzens, unlike the traditional style of other teams soaking up pressure when playing against City.

Andoni Iraiola's side were more of a pressing team, and they surely had their chances but many thanks to Ederson who denied Solanke and Kerkez from hitting the back of the net.

Erling Haaland has suddenly developed enmity with the goal post as it was another night to forget, missing many chances to give city a comfortable lead, the Norwegian had a chance to open scoring in the 9th minute after being teed up by Phil Foden but he blazed his effort agonizingly wide.

Not long after, it was Bournemouth's time to have a bite at the Cherry, Kerkez had his long range shot parried away by Ederson.

Close to the half-hour mark, in the 24th minute, Phil Foden put the Cityzens ahead after lashing on to a rebound from Haaland's close range shot which was saved by Neto.

Phil Foden was City's best player on the day as his solitary goal gave Pep Guardiola all three points. The England international played in a number 10 role and performed efficiently once again.

Bournemouth also had Dominic Solanke test Ederson in the second half but he had his shot saved. Many chances came the path of both teams but it was either off target, blocked or saved by the Goalkeeper.

It eventually ended in favor of the Cityzens, many thanks to Phil Foden's rebound.

Bournemouth came close on some occasions but unfortunately they didn't find the back of the net.

A somewhat positive result for the Cherries as they did put up a fight, unlike the expected whitewash, it ended with just a goal in favor of the Cityzens.

Victory was all City needed to go just a point behind league leaders, Liverpool who have 60 points.

Bournemouth on the other hand are on a downward spiral, seven matches without a victory, they currently sit 14th on the table with 28 points.
