Police arraign 4 men in court for assaulting a man with a gun
The officers of the Lagos state police command have arraigned 4 suspects who assaulted a man with a gun recently in the state. These men were arraigned on Tuesday in the Yaba Magistrate court.
They were arraigned before Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun of the Yaba Magistrates’ Court, in Lagos State. This was over alleged assaulting of a man named Abbass Raufu and injuring him as well on his right shoulder with a gun.
This issued started over a disputed land and this was what led to these 4 men assaulting this man. The suspects have been identified as Kazeem Adenuga, Adeolu Ogunsanwo, Ahmed Adebayo and Moses Oluwasegun.
These men were arraigned on five counts which include assault, forcible entry and threat to life.
Mr Rita Momoh who was the prosecutor, revealed that the suspects were armed with weapons when they went to visit Raufu. They had injured the victim's shoulder with a gun.
Their Charge read “That you, Adenuga Kazeem Adenuga, Adeolu Ogunsanwo, Ahmed Adebayo, Moses Oluwasegun and others at large, on November 4, 2023, at Ijoyin area, Epe, Lagos, in Lagos Magisterial District did forcibly enter into landed property at Ijoyin area, Epe, Lagos, which ownership is in dispute pending before the Court and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 52 of Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
The defendants pleaded not guilty to These crimes. The magistrate then gave directives that they be kept in police custody pending legal advice from the DPP.
The case has been till October 23, 2023, for DPP advice.
