Police arrest 10 suspects for killing police constable in Borno


Officers of the Borno State Police Command have arrested 10 suspected persons for killing a police constable in Borno state.

This incident occurred in Maiduguri, Borno state. These suspects have been identified and they are:
  1. Mohammed Abubakar (male 19 years)
  2. Hauwa Usman (female 20 years)
  3. Nduibuse Nnaji (male 34)
  4. David Paul (male 35)
  5. Usman Audu (male, 20)
  6. Aisha Musa (female 19)
  7. Amaechi Abdulsalam Afochibe (male 37)
  8. Sunday Garba (male 21)
  9. Abba Bala (male 20)
  10. Jude Eze (male 37)
The police constable who these suspects killed has also been identified as Babagana Mala.
This man had been deployed to Malari, in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno. He was attached to the Police Crack Unit.

Mohammed Yusufu who is the Borno State Commissioner of Police revealed this to newsmen on Tuesday. This was while he was parading the suspects at the command headquarters.

He shared that this incident occurred on the 23rd of July along the Artillery area, in Maiduguri. This was around 4:27pm on Sunday.

The victim who came home to Maiduguri on permission had been stabbed with a sharp object on his back. They revealed that there was an altercation between the suspects and this man before he was killed.

The police patrol team in the area received a distress call and quickly went to the scene. They rushed the victim to the Maiduguri specialist hospital but he was confirmed dead.

A witness was able to provide a video clip of the incident which the police used to make the arrests of these suspects.

The police have revealed that they have commenced an investigation into the matter and then charge these suspects to Court
