Police arrest 2 suspects for attacking man with machete in Lagos
The Lagos State police command have arrested 2 suspects who attacked a man with a machete in Lagos recently.
These2 suspects have been arraigned in a court sitting before the Chief Magistrates’ Court in Yaba, Lagos State. These men were arraigned on Wednesday before the court.
Their crimes were attacking a man with a machete recently. They had macheted the left hand of this man. The victim has been identified as Ali Yaga. The incident occurred at Elepete, in Ibeju Lekki area.
The 2 suspects have also been identified and they are Suraju Azeez who is 37 years old and Opeyemi Kabiru who is 24 years old.
It was the Lagos state Police who arraigned them before Magistrate O.A Salawu.
The suspects committed this crime last month on the 14th of June, 2023. This was around 5am that morning.
It was the prosecutor, Godwin Oriabure o revealed this to the court.
They read their charges against them and revealed that they duo had conspired amongst themselves to assault, cause harm and commit felony.
They revealed that their crimes are punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.
One of the suspects, Azeez pleaded not guilty to these charges read against him while the other man, Kabiru pleaded guilty to the crimes.
The Magistrate, Salawu granted Azeez bail in the sum of N200,000. This is with two sureties in like sum. They then ordered that Kabiru be remanded.
The case has been sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
She went ahead to adjourn the case till the 14th of September, 2023.
