Police arrest man for raping 15 year old girl In Edo state.
Officers of the Edo State Police Command have arrested a police who raped a 15 year old girl in the state. This man who is 28 years old has been identified as Abdurazak Ibrahim. He is a truck conductor in Edo State.
He allegedly raped a teenage girl who is 15 years old and this incident occured in Uromi in Esan South East Local Government area. This occurred on the 13th of September 2023. After the police arrested the suspect, he was also paraded at the command. While he was being paraded, the spokesperson of the Edo command who is Chidi Nwabuzor revealed that it was the father of the teenage girl, Mr Tony who reported the case to the police.
They revealed that the suspect had called the young girl while she was hawking groundnuts along Ivue-Irrua Road in Uromi. He pretended he wanted to buy some groundnuts and then attacked her. He pushed her inside the vehicle and assaulted the young girl.
The young girl was taken to the hospital for examination while the suspect was arrested. The suspect has also confessed to his crimes after denying the claims at first. He said he and his friends who had been traveling had only bought groundnut and joked about marrying her when he was accused of raping the girl.
According to his earlier statement, the suspect stated “We were travelling on the Agbor Road to Okpella and got stuck at Uromi due to the bad road. We were there for days. On this day, we called the girl who was hawking groundnut and I bought N100 groundnut from her. And my colleague said the girl is calm and that I should marry her, I jokingly said while coming back I will seek her parent hand in marriage and she left. But after three hours later, I was sleeping inside the vehicle when the girl came to me and ask me if I was serious about the marriage I talked about and we were still inside the vehicle when a boy came and accused me of raping her. I told him that nothing of such happened and the girl also said that I didn’t rape her so they all left. After a while, some boys came and accused me of raping the girl and they took me to the station. I didn’t rape her,”
The spokesperson has revealed that the suspect will be charged to court as soon as they complete the ongoing investigation into the case.
