Police arrest man for setting ex-lover’s house ablaze in Ogun
A man has been arrested in Ogun State for setting his ex-lover’s house on fire.
The Ogun State police command made the arrest of this man. He has been identified as Hassan Yusuf and he is 43 years old.
He set the house of his ex-lover, Busayo on fire. He reportedly burnt the entire building which is located in Ijebu-North Local Government Area in Ogun state.
This was due to the woman who is his ex-lover refused to get back together with him. He burnt her house as a protest.
It was the public relations officer of the Ogun state command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi who disclosed this.
He released a statement about this on Saturday.
He mentioned that they have arrested the suspect after a report was made at the divisional headquarters. It was the landlady who made the report. The landlady was identified as Adejoke Salau and she is 62 years old.
She mentioned she heard a noise and went to check and then saw the building was on fire and some tenants were trapped there.
She was able to mobilize other tenants who quickly rescued those trapped but the building got burnt down.
Investigation began and then they found out that it was this man who was behind this. Busayo, the ex lover mentioned she saw him behind her window and was scared to see him at such an odd hour and ran out.
She went to the room of another tenant only to discover flames coming out of her room..
The suspect denied knowing anything about it but eventually confessed.
He confessed that he wanted to burn her inside the house. He had bought petrol and poured it through her window and set it on fire.
The PRO has mentioned that the commissioner of police has given orders to transfer the suspect to State Criminal Investigation Departments for further investigation and prosecution
