The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has arrested the suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Adamawa state. This man, Hudu Yunusa-Ari, was arrested recently.

Mr Muyiwa Adejobi who is the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force was the one who confirmed the arrest.

He revealed this in a statement on Tuesday. He said Yunusa-Ari is in police custody being questioned.

The cause of the arrest was over the issue that happened during the supplementary governorship elections in Adamawa.

Recall the REC had acted inappropriately during the election where he announced a winner while the counting was still ongoing.

The statement that was released mentioned that the suspended REC was arrested in Abuja on the 2nd of May, 2023 and is in police custody being questioned about the motive behind his actions during the supplementary elections.

He announced the candidate of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the gubernatorial elections in Adamawa last month.

The independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had carried out their investigations after this occurrence.

The police Inspector-General has said they will arrest every individual involved in the matter.
