Police arrest Two motorcycle thieves in Bauchi state
The officers of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested two thieves in Bauchi state recently. The men who were arrested are motorcycle thieves.
They have been identified as Mustapha Adam who is from Anguwan Mahaukata area and Jafar Lawan who is from Gudun Hausawa area
They are involved in snatching motorcycles from their owners in the state. They usually operated in the Gudum Hausawa area.
It was the Bauchi state Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, who confirmed this News. He disclosed this in a statement which was released yesterday, Sunday to journalists in Bauchi state.
He said that these suspects’ usually operated by asking commercial motorcyclists (okada riders) to take them to a specific location and while they are on their way to that location, they would suddenly attack the rider and snatch their motorcycles and flee.
They would most times beat up the rider and steal the motorcycles.
He revealed that the officers of the command had gotten some credible information on the 27th of July 27, 2023. He says this was around 9pm when they acted on the information.
They were able to make the arrests of two suspected motorcycle thieves in Bauchi.
They revealed that around 8:30pm that day before they got intelligence, these suspected thieves had pretended to be passengers and then flagged down an okada rider named Kabiru Muhammadu.
They flagged him down at the Central Market in Bauchi and told him to take them to the old airport area.
When they got to the area, they brought out the trailer-wheel spanner they had with them and attacked the rider. They hit him on his head till he fell unconscious. The rider sustained some injuries on his ear from the hit.
The officers who received report of this immediately mobilized themselves to the area and rushed the victim to the Specialist Hospital, in Bauchi for medical treatment.
The officers then trailed these thieves and were able to arrest them before they got to their hideout in the state.
