Policeman charged to court for defrauding a businessman of N128m


A policeman who has been identified as Jerry Ogunsakin, has been charged to court over the unlawful conversion of a sum of N128m.

This man is the Deputy Superintendent of Police and he was brought before the court yesterday, Thursday.

He had been arraigned in a Federal High Court, in Lagos for this crime.

This man had committed the crime last year, on the 15th of November, 2022. The police prosecutor, Chukwu Agwu had revealed this to Justice Chukwuejekwu Aneke.

He also revealed that this man had conspired with some other people and they were 5 I number.

These people have been identified as Peter Ben, Ogbu Patricia also known as Lamba, Michael Babatunde, Idris Wada and Bolaji Sobande.

They had conspired and converted this money in a fraudulent manner. He had pretended that they wanted to sell United States dollars.

The policeman had pleaded not guilty to these charges. The prosecutor then asked for a trial date and pleaded that the court remand him till they determine the charge.

Justice Aneke has ordered that he should be remanded in the Nigerian Correctional Centre and then adjourned the case till July 19, 2023.
