The English Premier League has signed a new deal worth £6.7bn, with TNT and Sky Sports to show close to 270 Premier League games live.

The deal which is expected to last for over 4 years is expected to take effect from the 2025-26 season and is currently the largest Television rights deal ever “concluded” in the UK.

The newly signed deal also guarantees BBC to continue showing highlights on Match of The Day with extra digital rights for their internet platforms.

With 4 of the 5 packages awarded to Sky, they will be able to show a minimum of 215 matches a season including 5:30 pm matches, on Saturdays, 2 pm and 4 pm matches on Sundays, alongside three midweek rounds and Mondays and Fridays evening games.

TNT Formerly called BT Sports, will now be able to air at least 52 matches live in a season, which includes all 12:30 pm matches and two midweek kick-offs.

Despite not being able to secure a spot in this new deal as of now, Amazon will be able to show 20 matches with the former agreement.

The 3:00 pm Saturday blackout remains but every match that takes place other than the customary Saturday 3 pm blackout including those that are sometimes moved to Sunday 2 pm because of European competitions will now be aired live.

In addition, Sky Sports will be able to broadcast all 10 kick-offs on the final day of each season.

The Premier League stated that the recent deal is a result of the 4% rise in live rights value compared to the previous deal, which will in turn serve as a means of financial insurance for clubs untill 2029.

Premier League Chief Executive Officer, Richard Masters, expressed that the result of the deal is to show their support towards stakeholders - including; clubs, players, managers, and fans who constantly devote their effort to ensure that the Premier League maintains its spot as one of the most competitive leagues all over Europe and around the world.

The Premier League CEO said: “As longstanding and valued partners, Sky Sports and TNT Sports are renowned for consistently delivering world-class coverage and programming.

“We have enjoyed record audiences and attendances in recent seasons, and we know that their continued innovation will drive more people to watch and follow the Premier League.”
