President of World Bank president set to visit president Tinubu
The president of the World Bank, Ajay Banga, is set to pay a visit to President Bola Tinubu.
Ajay Banga is 14th President of the World Bank Group. He will be meeting with the president of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu during his 3 day visit to Nigeria today.
Ajay Banga became the president of World Bank on the 2nd of June, 2023. He will serve for a period of 5 years. Prior to this he was the Vice chairman at General Atlantic and was also once the President and CEO of Mastercard.
The World Bank released a statement yesterday, Tuesday and revealed that Ajay Banga will be arriving in Nigeria today and this is coming after his 2 day visit to Ethiopia.
He is coming alongside his wife, Ritu Banga. The institution revealed that his time in Nigeria is to identify some opportunities which will be useful in creating jobs for young people as well as to address the needs of energy and renewable energy.
He will be visiting a mini-grid power plant which provides solar energy to an entire community, which is financed by the World Bank and also a business owned by a woman which has generated more than 1,500 service-sector jobs for young Nigerians.
