Manchester United have been dealt with Rasmus Hojlund's injury blow with the former Atalanta forward set to miss weeks of action.
Speaking ahead of Manchester United's Premier League clash against Fulham on Saturday, Man United manager Erik ten Hag said Hojlund's injury is not a serious blow but he has to be rested for two to three weeks of action before he could return to lineup.
"It is a small injury, two or three weeks. It is a risk in high-intensity training," Ten Hag said on Friday.
"It's not a big injury but he has to wait now."
Hojlund's injury will come as a major blow for Manchester United who have relied heavily on the £72m signing to return to gears in the Premier League top four race.
Since breaking his goal duck after a 14-match scoreless streak, Hojlund has taken the Premier League by storm, shouldering Man United's goalscoring brunt, and leading the topscorers chart in 2024.
His brace in United's 2-1 win over Luton at the weekend took his tally for the Red Devils to 13 goals with 8 of the goals coming in his last six matches for the club.
He became the youngest Premier League player to score in six consecutive Premier League games for Manchester United at the age of 21 years and 14 days, beating the record held by Joe Willock who attained the feat at the age of 21 years 272 days.
Erik ten Hag will have to make do with the available attacking options for Manchester United which are Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Scott McTominay, and Antony.
Marcus Rashford is more likely to switch to center-position supported by Garnacho and Antony on the wings. The club is also nursing the injury of Anthony Martial, the club's recognized central striker after Ramsus Hojlund.
