Randal Kolo Muani hasn't recovered from his unfortunate miss at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, with the ghost of that squandered opportunity still haunting the Frenchman.

Kolo Muani is still grieving from that wasted chance that could have elevated his status in the French national team to an unimaginable level.

France played against Argentina in the final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, hoping to become the first nation to defend the title since Brazil, who won it in 1958 and 1962 successively.

They were aiming to become the 3rd country to achieve that feat, with Italy being the first nation to do so, in 1934 and 1938 respectively.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup final was pulsating, dramatic, and electric, from the beginning of the clash to its culmination.

Randal Kolo Muani was put through on goal whilst the encounter was 3-3, with his subsequent effort being saved by Emiliano Martinez.

Argentine defender Nicolas Otamendi couldn't cut out a through-ball, with Martinez rushing out to save his side's blushes.

The Aston Villa goalie made himself big and it aided him in saving the attempt by Kolo Muani deep into stoppage time of extra time.

That miss has since been largely talked about as a decisive point in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final, with many expressing that the outcome of the match could have turned out differently if that chance had been converted.

Argentina went on to win the shootout 4-2, with Emiliano Martinez being the hero on the day for Le Albiceleste.

Speaking concerning the intense showdown, Randal Kolo Muani said: “I will always be the guy who missed the 1-on-1 in the World Cup final. That's life. Even when my career's over, people will still talk to me about it.”

Kolo Muani currently plies his trade with Paris Saint Germain, having joined the club from Eintracht Frankfurt on September 1, 2023, for a fee of €95 million.

Randal Kolo Muani has made 24 appearances for the Parisians since his arrival, scoring 9 goals and providing 3 assists in all competitions.

The 25-year-old will definitely be hoping for another golden opportunity to atone for his costly miss, which had a hand in France not winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The attacker came on as a substitute in that encounter, replacing Ousmane Dembele, due to Les Blues' poor showing in the first 45 minutes.

Despite France missing several key players for the mundial due to injury, like Paul Pogba, and N'golo Kante, they grew into the tournament and showcased their dominance in grand style.

They were expecting to crown it with the FIFA World Cup title, having come so close to lifting it, despite missing the services of some experienced players, who helped them achieve glory in 2018.

Unfortunately, that didn't become a reality, with Randal Kolo Muani also missing a chance that he has claimed will continue to be mudded on him.
