Raphael Varane may likely leave Manchester United as the club is yet to renew his contract.

Varane joined Manchester United in a £41m move from Real Madrid in 2021. He penned a three-year contract with the club and has been phenomenal at the back.

Varane was a regular in Erik ten Hag's starting lineup last season, helping Manchester United end six-year trophy drought and also return to the Champions League.

This season, Varane was set to play a key role in Erik ten Hag's squad before he suffered an injury which has since eroded his gains at Old Trafford.

He dropped down the pecking order in Man United backline following return from the injury and was cutting a frustrated figure on Man United bench.

However, there has been a lifeline to his Man United career as Erik ten Hag began drafting him back to Man United starting lineup following an injury blow to Harry Maguire.

Despite his recent gains, his Manchester United future is still on the balance. With six months remaining to the end of his contract, United are yet to broker a new deal or trigger his extension clause.

Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag has confirmed one-year contract extensions for the likes of Hannibal Mejbri, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Victor Lindelof.

As per The Sun, Manchester United new co-owner and chairperson of the club's sporting and footballing operations Sir Jim Ratcliffe is hopeful of keeping Raphael Varane but on fresh terms.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly set to slash Raphael Varane's £340,000 weekly wage to agree a new deal with the player, including making an offer with a shorter contract duration.

With the cog on his possible contract extension, sources close to Varane have revealed the French defender may likely look for a new challenge away from Old Trafford

He has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia who are more likely to maintain his high paycheck should he agree to a a deal.
