Real Madrid have faced another setback as the Spanish club announced that striker Joselu is facing an ankle injury which is likely to sideline him until after the upcoming International break.

Despite being an important option at center forward for the La Liga powerhouse, the Spanish International will be missing for a few weeks due to an injury issue.

Joselu’s ankle problem is expected to keep him out until late March but will be possibly fit after the next international break.

Madrid is confident about his possible return just before this period, with the match against Osasuna on March 16 evaluated as a potential comeback date if his recovery progresses firmly.

In a statement released by the 14th time European champions, Real Madrid stated; "After the tests carried out on our player Joselu by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with bone edema in his right ankle. Evolution is pending".

Adding to Madrid’s injury concerns are several key players, including Jude Bellingham, Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba, Eder Militao, and Thibaut Courtois. Eduardo Camavinga is also elusive for the forthcoming game against Sevilla due to suspension.

However, Antonio Rudiger, on the other hand, could be back in Real Madrid's squad for Sunday's home game against Sevilla.

Joselu will also be unavailable for league matches against Valencia and Celta Vigo as well as the second leg of the UEFA Champions League last-16 clash against RB Leipzig.

The 33-year-old may also be a doubt for the away game with Osasuna in Real Madrid's final match before the international break in March.

Joselu rejoined Real Madrid in the summer transfer window on loan from Espanyol after the Catalan side was relegated from Spanish La Liga in the last season.

Despite Espanyol’s struggles, Joselu’s 16 goals in 34 matches enticed Real Madrid’s attention, leading to his fast signing.

Having featured in 35 games in all competitions this campaign, Joselu has contributed 13 goals and four assists.

What's next for Joselu?

Pending his recovery, the 33-year-old is anticipated to be part of Spain’s final team for the upcoming Euro 2024 in Germany, (his country of birth).
