Real Madrid players escaped a near-disastrous situation in Germany as their team bus was involved in a ghastly road accident en route to Effurt in Germany.

According to German outlet BILD, Real Madrid, who were traveling to honor their Champions League round 16 tie against RB Leipzig, were supposed to take a flight from Spain straight to Effurt in Germany, where they would face Leipzig.

They were later forced to fly to Munich instead of Effurt because of a reported Airport strike by workers in Effurt. After arriving in Munich, the team had to use road transport, traveling about 100 miles to Effurt, hence they used the team's couch for the journey.

Along the way, the vehicle was involved in an accident as it collided with a Toyota. Eyewitnesses, speaking with Marca, say the Real Madrid team bus driver was not to blame for the accident but the driver of the Toyota car, who is said to have been engrossed in filming the bus as he came closer to them before suddenly losing control of his steering wheel.

He was then trying to switch lanes immediately but it was too late as he ended up colliding with the couch. All Real Madrid players, including the coaching crew, were on the bus when the accident occurred.

BILD said the surface of the vehicle which collided with the Toyota was crashed and would not roughly £2500 for repair.

Meanwhile, no injury has been reported on any of the players or the coaching staff with the Toyota rider also in sound health condition. However, the state of his vehicle was yet to be confirmed as of the time of filing this report.

Real Madrid reportedly arrived at their team hostel by 3pm as per reports before with the star-studded side alighting from the vehicle to the facility to prepare for the Champions League tie.

The Los Blancos will trade tackles with RB Leipzig in the round 16 first-leg Champions League tie today.
