Barcelona ran riot as they humbled Athletico Bilbao with a 4-nil victory.
Lionel Messi was on target twice, as he becomes the tournament record goalscorer, with his tenth strike of the season. Messi has now won the Copa Del Rey for a record seventh time.
This victory will see Barcelona charging for another trophy come end of matchday 38 in the Spanish Laliga. Barca are in third position, two points off Athletico Madrid, who leads the log after 30 matches. Barcelona lost their sensational striker, Luis Suarez to Athletico Madrid, but he seems to have hit the ground and running at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium.
Ronald Koeman at the end of the match heaped praises on Lionel Messi, saying, “Messi is a winner. We have to talk about all our players because they deserve this title. But Messi makes the difference. All of us want Messi to stay here,"
Messi, who was on the verge of leaving Spain last year but decided to stay, after a fallout with the Barcelona board, headed by Bartomeu, said, “Today is a very happy day. It’s special to be the captain of this team where I’ve been playing all my life,

Winning the Copa Del Rey and breaking the goalscoring record were not the only thing Messi did in this match, Messi also scored his 30th goal this season, making it for the 13th consecutive time in his career.
Frenkie De Jong and Antoine Griezmann were also on target. Griezmann could have made it five, but the French Striker saw his goal disallowed in the 86th minute.
