Rema and Selena Gomez's Calm Down reaches 1 billion streams on Spotify

Popular Nigerian musician Rema and Selena Gomez's song titled Calm Down has reached 1 billion streams on Spotify. Rema whose real name is Divine Ikubor released this collaboration with Selena Gomez last year, 2022 and ever since this song has been breaking records.

It was the music streaming platform, Spotify that made the announcement themselves. They revealed that Rema’s song “Calm Down” which features Selena Gomez has joined the Billions Club. The billions club consists of songs that have achieved this milestone of a billion streams on the platform.

This is a major achievement for Rema and Selena Gomez as well. This is also the first time a track led by an African artist has reached a billion streams on Spotify. The Afrobeats star, rema has also expressed his joy and gratitude for this huge milestone he has crossed.

In a press release, Rema stated “It’s a blessing. It’s not just a big win for me, my team and family, it’s also a big one for the culture. I feel really happy and I’m really proud of the fans as well for going back to the song and putting people on the song. Shout out to the DJs and everyone who made this possible,”


Don Jazzy who is the CEO and founder of Mavin Records which Rema is signed to has also congratulated them. He shared his congratulations via his Twitter account recently.
He stated "Massive congratulations to @heisrema as Calmdown ft @selenagomez just crossed 1 BILLION STREAMS on Spotify. This is not small at allllll. Thanks for the love and support guys."
