A young lady named Rukayat Shittu who is 26 years old has won a seat in the Kwara State House of Assembly.
The gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections were held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 in different states.
With her winning this election, she will now be representing Owode/Onire Constituency in Asa local government area in the Kwara State House of Assembly
Rukayat is a former Senate President of Congress of NOUN Students (CONS).
Professor Hakeem Ijaya who is the Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the results.
Rukayat contested under the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform and she had a total of 7,521 votes. Her closest opponent from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) who she beat had a total of 6,957 votes in the elections.
