Ruth Carter is an American costume designer, and she has designed for over 40 films.

Ruth Carter is a 62 year old woman who has had a total of 4 oscar nominations for the Academy Award for Best Costume Design. She is a top customer designer in the industry.

She is now the first black woman to win 2 Oscars. She won her first Oscars 3 years ago, which was in 2019. This award was for her costume design in "Black Panther”, a popular marvel movie.

Her work is also recognised in the newly released Wakanda Forever which is a sequel to Black Panther.

Russell Williams II, a sound mixer was the first Black person to win two Oscars While Ruth is the first Black woman.

She gave her acceptance speech and went ahead to thank the director who is Ryan Coogler. She appreciated him for his vision alongside Nate Moore. She also appreciated the Academy for recognizing the superhero who is a Black woman.

She spoke about her mum who passed away recently at age 101. She asked the late Black Panther actor, Chadwick Boseman to take care of her.

She also appreciated the talented artists who helped with bring those customes to life.
