Samklef claims himself and Wizkid created afrobeats
Popular Nigerian singer known as Samklef has claimed that himself and another Nigerian superstar, Wizkid created afrobeats. The singer shared this recently via a post on his X (twitter) account.
His full name is Samuel Oguachuba but he is popularly known as Samklef. He is a producer and a singer. He claimed that he and Wizkid were the ones who created afrobeats. He stated that it wasn't until 2010 when himself and wizkid created afrobeats that it came to be. He claims Nigerian contemporary music had no genre until them

He then added that Fela created afrobeat, and then Wizkid named Nigerian music afrobeats. He revealed this on twitter after sharing a photo of himself and Wizkid. He then captioned it saying all these.
He stated “Meet the Nigerian two kids that created the afrobeats sound of today. As of 2009, Nigerian music had no title! Until these two created magic! 2010! Even the award categories in Nigeria were Best Hip Hop, Best R and B, Best Alternative Music and Best Reggae! There was nothing like Best Afrobeats! It was Wizkidayo who named it afrobeats! Know this and know peace! Fela created afrobeat!”
