Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf reinstates the deposed monarch, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as Emir of Kano following suspension from the law court.
Earlier this week, the Kano State House of Assembly approved the new law to dissolve the four Kano Emirates; Bichi, Karaye, Gaya, and Rano appointed under the 2019 Emirate Council law and reinstall Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the only Emir in Kano.
Following the announcement yesterday, Alhaji Aminu Bappa Dan Agundi filed a lawsuit against the Kano State Government to suspend the implementation of the new Kano Emirate Council law. The court granted his request, rendering Sanusi's reinstallation null.
Sanusi Lamido Sanusi received his appointment letter on Friday from Gov. Abba Yusuf at an event attended by traditional rulers, government officials, and dignitaries.
Gov. Yusuf said, "By the powers conferred on me by the Kano Emirate Council Law of 1984 and 2024, and supported by the recommendation of the kingmakers, I have the singular pleasure to confirm the reappointment of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano and the head of the Kano Emirate Council."
