Popular American singer Selena Gomez recently hosted a rare impact fund gala to support mental health. This is her commitment to mental health awareness as she hosted this event which is the inaugural Rare Impact Fund Benefit: A Night of Radiance & Reflection in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

Selena Gomez is a 31 year old actress, singer, and businesswoman. She was born on the 22nd of July 1992. She founded Rare beauty which is a beauty brand 3 years ago (2020) and has now created a big brand for herself.
The event was held in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 4th 2023. Stars like Taylor Launter and his wife, Sofia Carson, and many more graced the event. Martin Short served as MC at the event and Musicians H.E.R performed as well as Marshmallow. Items like Taylor Swift tickets, Messi's Jersey and a movie night with Paul Rudd were auctioned at the event and all these were in a bid to support mental health.

The event was about Rare beauty's commitment to making a change in the world by focusing on mental health. They aim to reduce the stigma that's associated with mental health as well as increasing access to mental health services and education for many around the world.

Selena gomez spoke with a reporter at the event and stated “I’ve always wanted to do one but I thought we were too young to maybe do it. We’re in a good place and I guess why not now? We’re stoked to be able to do this, it’s going to a great cause and I just couldn’t be luckier.”

During the event, the star also gave a speech speaking about her own mental health.
She stated "I struggled with the world inside my head for a long time and I felt lost and I felt hopeless at times. In 2020 I received my diagnosis of bipolar disorder, and to be honest, everything quickly changed. I actually got the knowledge and the answers I had been desperate for for so long, and understanding that obviously makes me become more aware of it, and I’m less afraid than I used to be. With that knowledge I could seek out the support I needed, to be myself, to find my joy again, and tonight I’m very proud to say that I have. I’m working really hard every day and I’m so happy just to be alive and be here with you guys today"

She mentioned how some people around the world don't have access to the support she had and thus is why The Rare Impact Fund has a goal of raising $100 million and this will be spread out over the course of 10 years.
