With just two minutes left in the game, Sergio Ramos was sent off for a rash challenge on Brais Mendez.

The former Real Madrid and PSG center-back aimed a studs-up tackle on Mendez with a dangerous swipe on the ankle of the Real Sociedad player.

With Real Sociedad leading 2-1, it was a double jeopardy for the record Europa League winners. Former Manchester City star Jesus Navas, who protest the decision to send off Sergio Ramos, was slammed with the first red card of his career.

With the red card against Ramos, the Spanish defender has bagged the most number of red cards in La Liga history ahead of Rafael Marquez (21) and Felipe Melo (20).

Ramos' red card was a bit controversial. He was first issued with a yellow card but VAR called for a review of the decision.

After review, the referee rescinded the yellow card for a red card.

The match ended with Real Sociedad winning 2-1 to bag all three points.

The win has seen Real Sociedad continue the charge for a top four finish, and are now fifth on the table while Sevilla have dropped to 15th after 7 games winless run.
