Sevilla have added Manchester United youngster Hannibal Mejbri to the club's lineup as they hope to crawl out of the woods of a difficult domestic campaign in Spain.

Mejbri, 20, reportedly refused a call-up by Tunisia national team for AFCON as he battled to secure his club future. Playing as an attacking midfielder, the Tunisian youngster has been on the peripheries at Old Trafford. He was loaned to Championship side Birmingham City last season, where he breathed life back to his career.

This season, he has been sparingly used by the club and was link to a possible exit as Erik ten Hag continues on his squad reshuffle.

The Tunisia international has managed only one Premier League start for Manchester United this season, making 10 appearances across all competitions.

He was not used in Manchester United's 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur but featured in the preceding FA Cup clash against Wigan.

Manchester United confirmed the exit of Hannibal Mejbri in a club statement wishing the youngster luck as he takes up a new challenge.

Details of the loan deal reveals Mejbri will spend the rest of this season with Sevilla. A buy option has been agreed between the two clubs for the player. Sevilla will reportedly pay £17.5m should they decide to make the loan deal permanent.

Mejbri is the third Man United first team player to leave the club in January. The Red Devils loaned out Donny van de Beek to Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany before offloading Jadon Sancho to another German club on a loan deal as well.

United would have opted to part ways with Hannibal Mejbri this summer but decided to trigger extension clause on his contract and then loaned him to Sevilla. The transfer decision could be seen as a ploy to keep tabs on the young player for a possible new deal should he improve on his loan shift to Sevilla or sell him to interested clubs instead of allowing him leave for for free.
