Seyi Makinde wins governorship in Oyo State.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared official that Seyi Makinde is the winner of the 2023 governorship elections.

The elections held on the 18th of march, 2023 and INEC has declared the winner as seyi Makinde.

Recall that the elections were pushed back by a week and eventually held this last Saturday.
The gubernatorial elections held in 28 states out of 36.

The states that held their elections on March 18, 2023 were Abia state, Adamawa state, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kwara state, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara State.

Gov. Makinde won in 31 out of the 33 local government areas in Oyo State.
Sen. Folarin won in 2 local governments.

Seyi Makinde had a total of 563,617 votes and the closet rival who is senator Teslim Folarin had a total of 251,230 votes.

Following these 2 people is the Accord Party's Adebayo Adelabu having a total of 38,757 votes.

Makinde is one of the few governors who were contesting for a reelection. Governo Sanwo-Olu is also one of these governos who contested for a reelection and won.
