Simi calls out INEC over election budget
Nigerian musician, Simi has called out the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over their budget for the 2023 elections in Nigeria.
Simisola Ogunleye-Kosoko, popularly known as Simi is a musician, she is married to Adekunle Gold and they have a daughter together.
She reacted to INEC via a post on her Twitter handle on Monday, March 20, 2023 which was 2 days after the gubernatorial elections that were held on the 18th of march.
Simi said that the budget for the 2023 elections should have been used to fix schools and hospitals.
In her tweet, she expressed disappointment and disbelief in the fact that the budget was 300 billion and she stated “300 billion naira budget for this joke of an election"
To her and many others, the 2023 elections were a joke. She tagged the Twitter handle of INEC and told them they could have just given the money back to fix some hospitals and schools but instead they had just pointed at the people they wanted to select.
She further mentioned how the rigging during the elections was so obvious yet no one in power addresses this.
She then added that anyone who saw the disenfranchisement and didn't condemn it shouldn't bother with their prayers for Nigeria because Nigeria doesn't need prayers from such people.
