Nigeria's Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong, has officially resigned from his ministerial duties.

Lalong tendered his resignation letter to the Federal Government on 19th December, 2023 to make room for him to take his seat as the Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District.
His resignation was confirmed in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Makut Simon Macham.
After a long legal process, Lalong said he has been announced the elected Senator of the Plateau South Senatorial District by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Lalong described his resignation as a necessity and a means to support the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
