A 2005 interview surfaced about Sir Alex Ferguson predicting the establishment of VAR.

Football fans were amazed by the greatest Premier League manager's opinion 18 years ago.

The former Manchester United manager was speaking in the tunnel, talking about how technology can influence the decisions of officials.

Sir Alex Ferguson, speaking after a 0-0 draw with London giant Tottenham Hotspur, talked about cancelation of Andy Carroll's late winner for Tottenham Hotspur.

He said, "My contention about [video technology] in the past has been that it would take too long."

"It's a winter game. People on the terraces are sitting and waiting for something to happen, waiting for the referee to go way across the touch line, make a decision, and look at it. It could take a couple of minutes.

“The Bologna coach made a good point. If you can't make a decision in 30 seconds, the game carries on.”

The fans had been hailing the football genius after making such excellent comments about the technology that would enhance the future of football.

A fan commented, "Always ahead of the game, what a genius."

How has VAR inevitably helped referees with decision-making?

The video assistance referee had done more good than bad to football.

It had assisted the referee in making decisions, and that made the FA Rules easily implementable.

However, the power of making the final decision still rests with humans (officials), who have constantly made errors.

Many football clubs had been subjected to an apology from the PGMOL, who still continues to make mistakes despite the availability of the VAR.

There is now a need for total implementation of technology and the exclusion of referees to allow decision-making in football to be 100% correct.

When you look at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, there was an automatic machine that helped detect offside, and it was implemented in some Champions League matches this season.

The Premier League is looking forward to embracing more technology next season, which will totally reduce the burden on the referees by curbing rooms for mistakes.

Why was Ferguson referred to as the greatest manager in the Premier League?

Sir Alex won the Champions League twice in his tenure as a Manchester United manager.

He won the FIFA Club World Cup in 2008, 13 Premier Leagues, two UEFA Super Cups, five FA Cups, four Carabao Cups, and 10 Community Shields.

In addition, Sir Alex Ferguson won the Intercontinental title with Manchester United.

While he was at Aberdeen, he won three Scottish Leagues, four Scottish Cups, and one Scottish League Cup.
