Sir Jim Ratcliffe is holistic in his Manchester United reform plan. Now focusing on overhauling the administrative hierarchy, the UK billionaire is also interested in reinforcing the United squad for optimal performance.

Manchester United are struggling this season and the underwhelming performances has perhaps offered clues on the club's weak points, pointing to lapses that would need addressing.

One of such key positions United would want an enforcement is the midfield role with Casemiro's future uncertain, as per club sources.


According to Daily Mail, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has approved a whooping £100m transfer fund for the club's move to sign 2005-born Portuguese young talent Joao Neves.

Currently plying his trade with Benfica, Joao Neves has emerged as a top transfer target for top clubs in Europe following his standout performances for Benfica.

The 19-year-old has been on the radar of Manchester United as a key target for United's midfield options.

Neves is known for his maturity and composure with the ball, including his high technical footballing skills. He can retain possession even in tight spaces and is also known for his great dribbling skill which has made him dangerous on the offensive.

Despite his slender build, Neves boasts a very high percentage wins on aerial duels. His passing skills are perfect, including his marking skills.

Manchester United are leading the race to sign him and are reportedly ready to splash as much as £100m for the youngster.

At 19, Joao Neves has already made 56 Primeira appearances for Benfica, scoring 3 goals. He has also won three caps with the Portugal national team, playing alongside Man United legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

Joao Neves has contract with Benfica till 2028 but the Portuguese club are likely to sell off the player with a good offer on ground.

It is believed Man United's impending £100m offer will be enough to force Benfica to sell the youngster.
