Soldiers allegedly kill two youths in Edo State.

Some soldiers have reportedly shot two youths dead in Edo State recently.

The victims have been identified as Oyegwu Afoso and David Agbagie.
This incident happened in Afokpella community, in the Etsako East Local Government Area.

The community members had embarked on a protest which was peaceful. This protest had been to raise the issue of underemployment caused by the two cement factories that operate in this community

They began the protest around 6am on Monday and were chanting as they made their complaints known.

This peaceful protest had gone south when the protesters called on other communities to join them. This I then prevented some of those community members from going to work.

These people were angered and They then called on some soldiers to disband the crowd protesters.

These soldiers arrived at the scene and began shooting so as to disband their caucus.

This led to the protesters fleeing and some of them sustained injuries in the process.
Some were also injured by these bullets.

A protester revealed that the protest was peaceful but the people from neighbouring communities came with soldiers and shot 3 boys. A youth from their own community in turn had angrily vandalized a vehicle which belonged to a factory worker.

He revealed how many people were injured and also mentioned that his cousin was one of those who was killed.

He mentioned that after the soldiers came the first time, they stopped the protest only for them to come again and continue shooting at them.

He revealed they couldn't take the injured people to the hospital because the soldiers had threatened to shoot anybody they saw outside and then these injured boys died at home.
