Students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) were immensely shocked by the increment in the school's obligatory fees. A few weeks back, rumor had it that UNILAG would increase the school fees to #70,000, but the signed fees by the school's management revealed otherwise.
Here is the signed summary of the meeting held by the institution's lecturers.
Before the increment, non-science students paid N16,000 per session, while science students paid N21,000 per session. Now, the non-science students are to pay #100,750, the science student's fee is pegged at N140,750, while the fee for medical students is as high as N190,250. This excludes the compulsory N20,000 utility bills to be paid by all students and an additional N30,000 to be paid by the final year students.
The newly admitted students previously paid between N55,000 to N70,000 depending on their course of study, here is a picture of their new fees.
It is now left to parents to find means of paying their children's school fees. At this rate, some students might have to drop out if they are unable to pay their school fees on time because not everyone will be eligible for the student loan.
