Sudan crisis: another set of 1,350 Nigerians leave Khartoum

Another set of Nigerians left Khartoum which is the capital of Sudan, on Sunday. This batch consisted of 1,350 Nigerians.

Recall the first batch of 637 evacuated Nigerians from Sudan faced a challenge at the border between Sudan and Egypt.

They were to arrive in Egypt where they will be airlifted back to Nigeria. The Egyptians authorities finally agreed and opened the border for the evacuated Nigerians.

It was Nuru Rimi who is the Nigerian Ambassador in Egypt, that confirmed that approval had been granted for the Nigerians to enter Egypt.

He said this approach was granted but with guidelines and conditions. He said that there must be a strong pledge that once Nigerians leave the border, they will be transported directly to the airport where they will be airlifted from.

They also want the details of the aircraft, a list of the evacuated Nigerians, their passport numbers and travel information.

They also mentioned there will be Government officials present at these places with standby buses that will transport them immediately to the airport.

Recall before the Nigerians could get to Egypt, they faced challenges like when the drivers stopped in the desert because they demanded full payment.

It was Mrs Dabiri-Erewa who had revealed these challenges. she also mentioned that the Federal Government has resolved the issues.

There was also the challenge of a bus whose tire exploded and led to a fire but no one was injured. The passengers were shared into other buses.
