Stanley Nwabali broke a 44-year-old record in the history of the Super Eagles goalkeepers with four clean sheets in five matches in the African Cup of Nations.

The goalkeeper equaled Best Ogedegbe’s 1980 record of four clean-sheets in a row and surpassed Alloy Agu’s 1990 three clean sheets in a row for the Super Eagles after he kept a clean sheet against Angola on February 2, 2024.

Nwabali had only conceded one goal in five matches in the African Cup of Nations.

Before the game against Angola, Nwabali kept a clean sheet against Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, and Cameroon.

Before the beginning of the 2023 African Cup of Nations, the Super Eagles fans were extremely concerned about who would be at the goal post after watching Francis Uzoho consistently making mistakes.

The national team searched consistently for a new goalkeeper before the 2023 African Cup of Nations, and they were able to discover Stanley Nwabali.

He was instrumental in inspiring the Super Eagles to the semi-finals of the AFCON, despite their non-reliance on the goalkeeping department before the commencement of the tournament.

Nwabali hopes to continue his impressive performance when the Super Eagles face either Cape Verde or South Africa in the semi-finals of the tournament as they continue the quest to win the title for the fourth time.

At the end of the tournament, the goalkeeper is likely to end up with the Golden Glove.

Apart from his impressive stats in the 2023 African Cup of Nations, the goalkeeper made 42 saves, keeping eight clean sheets out of 19 matches for Chippa United in South Africa.

Who is Stanley Nwabali?
The Super Eagles goalkeeper was born on June 10, 1996, in Rivers State, Nigeria, into a Christian family, and he grew up in Port Harcourt. Nwabali is currently 27 years old.

He currently plays as a goalkeeper for South African Premier League soccer club FC Chippa United.

Nwabali started his goalkeeping career with Go Round FC in 2019 before moving to Enyimba of Aba in 2020.

In 2021, the goalkeeper joined Lobi Stars before moving to Katsina United a year later.

Nwabali joined the South African football club Chippa United in 2022.

During an interview with the New Telegraph, the goalkeeper revealed he joined Go Round FC of Port Harcourt as a defender before he was later converted into a striker.

The coach of Go Round FC decided to convert him to a goalkeeper, and he has been exceptional in that position since then.

He made his first competitive appearance for the Super Eagles against Equatorial Guinea in the 2023 African Cup of Nations.

Nwabali revealed his idol was former Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, even though their playing styles are extremely different.

The Chippa United goalkeeper is currently single and is not expected to get married as soon as possible as he is more focused on his career.

It was revealed that the goalkeeper has a net worth of $800,000. He is one of the richest goalkeepers in the Super Eagles currently.
