Ahmed Musa, the captain of the Super Eagles, has reportedly terminated his contract with the Turkish Super Liga team for the second time in his career.
The former Leicester City forward Musa’s contract was mutually terminated, the Turkish Super Lig club Sivasspor said on Wednesday, February 28.
The 31-year-old did not rejoin the team after the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations due to his falling out of the club's first team for an extended period.
Meanwhile, the former Kano Pillers player deal was set to expire in June.
Ahmed Musa left another Turkish club, Fatih Karagumruk, where he had similar issues getting playing time, to join Sivasspor in the 2022/2023 season.
During his two seasons at Sivasspor, he made eight appearances in the starting lineup without scoring a goal.
This is not the first time Ahmed Musa will be fired in the Turkish League, recall that Musa’s contract was terminated by Turkish team Fatih Karagumruk before the recent one.
The club made the contract termination known on all of their social media channels.
The club reported that since Musa didn’t show up for preseason training on time, his future with the team would be in jeopardy during the off-season.
Sivasspor is alleged to be owing Musa close to six months' salary, which has prompted both parties to find an agreeable solution to the problem by terminating his contract.
However, the former Al Nassr player would drag the Istanbul based club to FIFA, according to people close to the player at the time.
At the little club led by Bulent Uygun, Musa had trouble making a sensation on them.
Musa made just three appearances the whole season without scoring a goal before he was fired.
In addition to Turkish teams, the forward was also dismissed before his contract expired by the Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr, which required him to return to his former team in Nigeria, Kano Pillars, before making his way to Turkey in 2022.
What's next for Ahmed Musa?
This leaves the 2013 AFCON winner as a free agent but he is working on moving to another club before the opening of the summer transfer window.
