Suspect charged to court for attacking woman with cutlass
A man has been charged to court for attacking a woman with cutlass in Ondo state recently. This man has been identified as Odun Ogedengbe and he is 38 years old. On Thursday he was arraigned in an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State and this was for attacking a woman with a cutlass.
This incident had occurred during an argument between the man and the woman. The suspect has been charged with three counts of assault, breach of peace and felony. Mr Zedekiah Orogbemi who is the Police Prosecutor, revealed to the entire court that the defendant had committed this crime on the 19th of August 2023.
He revealed that this occured around 10am, at Igodan in Okitipupa, Okitipupa Magisterial District. E had attacked the victim who has also been identified as Ms Onome Adekunle, with a cutlass.
The woman had sustained various degrees of injuries on her face resulting from this attack. The defendant then pleaded not guilty to the charges read against him.
Mr Chris Ojuola who is yhe Chief Magistrate, has granted bail to the defendant. Ge was given bail in the sum of N200,000 alongside one surety in like sum. The magistrate also revaled that this surety must be resident within the court jurisdiction and also show evidence of two years of tax payment to the state government.
The case was thereby adjourned till the 18th of September 2023 for further hearing.
