Suspected Gunmen kill 27 people in Benue State
Some suspected gunmen have killed about 27 people recently in Benue State.
This was the work of an unknown gang who attacked Adogo Ugbaam, Akpuuna and Diom communities which are located in Ukum Local Government Area in Benue State.
The attack led to the death of manu people and many others were seriously injured.
The first incident had happened on Friday night. A funeral had been in progress when these gunmen attacked them and killed 3 people.
The following day, these men attacked Akpuuna and Diom communities and then killed 25 people.
The motive behind this killing is yet to be determined. The gunmen shot at anyone they saw and killed these people.
Many fled when they began shooting while some weren't that lucky and were injured.
After they shot at people, they went ahead to burn people's property. Many people are still missing from this attack.
Mr Kartyo Tyoumbur, who is the Chairman of Ukum LGA, has confirmed this incident. He said they recovered 24 bodies from the villages that were attacked.
SP, Catherine Anene who is the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent, has also confirmed this. She said that the police quickly came to the scene after they heard about the shootings and engaged in a shootout with these gunmen.
She said investigation is still ongoing.
