The new border bridge that links Nigeria and her neighboring country, Cameroon has been commissioned. This link bridge between Nigeria and Cameroon is at Mfum/Ekok, which is across the Cross River; and the new Joint Border Post at Mfum.

Recall that the construction of this bridge began in 2017, and was finally completed in 2021.
From the pictures, the beautiful new bridge is shown as well as the old one. The new bridge replaces the old one which was a single-lane one. Interestingly, it was built more than 70 years ago.

President Muhammadu Buhari and President Paul Biya, commissioned this bridge on Thursday.
Buhari, who was represented by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Amb. Zubairu Dada, said this project would enhance the interconnectivity of the people and communities and also improve living standards as well as reduce barriers to inter-regional trade and strengthen border security.

He further commended the African Development Bank (AfDB). They provided the funding for the execution and completion of the project.

The president also appreciated the agencies and everyone that made the project possible.
He thanked the Republic of Cameroon for their cooperation. Be also thanked the government and the president for their support in this project.

Let see what will happen to this Nigeria Cameroon bridge in the next 4 years. Will they finish it and will they maintain it?
