The word "sodomized" is derived from the word Sodom which is the name of an ancient Palestinian city which was mentioned in the Bible. To be sodomized means to commit sodomy.
Sodom and Gomorrah explained
The story of the famous Biblical city of Sodom and Gomorrah can be found in the Book of Genesis Chapter 19:1-30. Sodom and Gomorrah symbolizes sexual immorality and disobedience against God. This is where the word sodomy originates from meaning any form of sexual intercourse that is done in an unnatural way e.g anally or orally. The most prevalent sin in the city of Sodom and Gomorrah was homosexuality among men.
The ancient cities of Sodom and Gomorrah was utterly destroyed by God with fire and brimstone because they didn't turn away from their wicked ways. Sodom and Gomorrah's story has been a controversial topic throughout the years. The reason for their destruction hadn't been clearly stated. Though the cities were associated with lust and homosexuality, some argued that Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because of their inhospitable and wicked nature. During the time of Abraham and his nephew Lot, angels came to visit Abraham and he was told to leave the city with his family because God was going to cause his wrath on them. Abraham begged God to spare the people and forgive them if he could find ten righteous people.
When the angels came to visit Lot, some men in the city came knocking on Lot's door requesting to have their way with the angels. Lot did all he could to protect the angels and offered his virgin daughters to the men. The men refused and tried breaking into Lot's house but the angels struck them blind.
The next day, Lot's family fled Sodom and Gomorrah. As they were going, God rained fire and brimstone on the cities and all the people, animals and plants were destroyed. The angels warned Lot and his family not to look back but his wife was adamant. She looked back and turned into a pillar of salt, never to leave the cursed cities. A pillar of salt is located at Mount Sodom near the Dead Sea in present day Israel.
In ancient times, sodomy used to be a thing of shame and a criminal offense but after several years, homosexuality has been accepted into today's society.
A man and a man are now allowed to have romantic relationships with each other. Gay marriages have now become a norm in developed countries like USA, UK, France among others. African society is likely to be the only one that is yet to fully accept the movement due to its beliefs, customs and traditions.
The movement has grown so much in years that it now has an umbrella term called the LGBTQIA which is a fusion of all other identities. Sodomy used to be an unusual phenomenon practiced in secret among some groups of individuals but has now grown into an appropriate and widely acceptable conduct. What was considered immoral is now endorsed by the church just like the times of Sodom and Gomorrah.
