NDLEA

NDLEA stands for National Drug Law Enforcement Agency. It is a body established by the Federal Ministry of Justice (The National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria) to regulate and eliminate the manufacturing, exporting, importing, selling, and growing of hard drugs in Nigeria. The agency was established in 1989 by the decree number 48. They are actively on the lookout for drug dealers and money laundering organizations. The agency's head office is located in Abuja, Nigeria. The name of the current Chairman of NDLEA is Brig. Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) CON, OFR, DSS.

The employees of NDLEA have been trained to hijack and destroy illicit drugs. They engage in preventive mechanisms such as counseling drug abusers against the health consequences of substance abuse. Over the years, the agency has had 14 directorates, 14 zonal commands, 111 state area commands, and 10 Special (airports & seaports) commands. They are located in all the nation’s airports, seaports, border posts, and other strategic locations on the road networks in the country. Literally, any form of entry and exit in Nigeria would be screened by the NDLEA before a person gets cleared.
