The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga said things would have gone worse if President Tinubu hadn't removed the fuel subsidy.

In an interview with Arise TV, Onanuga said Nigeria would have gone extinct if Pres. Tinubu hadn't implemented subsidy removal when he did. He further stated that Pres. Tinubu understands the pain Nigerians are going through and he is working tirelessly to reduce it.

Onanuga also advised the media to begin to divert their focus from the FG to the states and local government areas because the revenue allocation has increased but there may be mismanagement. He mentioned that these two tiers of government collect a lot of money and resources but have nothing to show for it.

He said the reason for the creation of states is to bring the government closer to the people but the people keep getting poorer instead of benefitting from the government. He added these states waste funds on administrative purposes rather than the citizens' welfare.
