Thomas Tuchel has shared that he does not think he is “the only problem” at Bayern Munich and the German also thinks that he can afford to be “more reckless” following the announcement of his impending departure from the club.

Tuchel will exit the Allianz Arena at the end of the campaign - a year earlier than contractually agreed due to a ”sporting realignment” at the Bavarian club.

Speaking on his incoming departure at the end of the season, Thomas Tuchel expressed that what matters now to the team and manager is “clarity” as it brings “freedom”.

The German tactician said: “The only thing that matters now is that there is clarity. Clarity brings freedom and it is good for the matches and the training.”

“Freedom [also] for the coach in how to act. You don't have to think about long-term consequences of your choices. You can be a bit more reckless.”

Tuchel, who led Chelsea to the UEFA Champions League in 2021, guided Bayern Munich to the German Bundesliga title last campaign.

The Bavarian giants are battling to win a 12th straight German title this season, but their chances of triumphing at the end of the season get slimmer as the games go by.

Bayern Munich are 11 points behind league-leaders Bayer Leverkusen with 12 league games remaining for Thomas Tuchel's side.

They started their slippery slope of losing their sights on Bayer Leverkusen after they were smashed 3-0 by Xabi Alonso's side at the Bay Arena.

Subsequently, Bayern Munich were defeated 1-0 in the UEFA Champions League by Lazio, before they also fell to an unfortunate 3-2 loss against VFL Bochum.

As aforementioned, Bayer Leverkusen have an 11-point lead over the Munich-based club in the Bundesliga, having defeated Mainz 2-1 on Friday, February 23, 2024.

Bayern Munich can close the gap to 8 points if they defeat RB Leipzig in a Matchday 23 action on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel stated categorically that “It does not matter if I understand the decision of the club or whether I am happy with it”.

However, Tuchel feels he isn't the only problem at Bayern Munich, accepting responsibility for the club's current woes, but stressing that he is not satisfied the team has played and that has been the case for quite some time.

He added: “Now we have a new situation. The situation has been solved and communicated but I don't think I am the only problem.”

Thomas Tuchel has had a wishy-washy managerial career thus far, having managed notable teams like Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint Germain, Chelsea, and currently Bayern Munich.

The 50-year-old has been relatively successful thus far, winning some high-profile trophies, including; 3 League titles, 1 UEFA Champions League, and 1 FIFA Club World Cup.

Anyway, Bayern Munich have penciled down several top names as potential replacements for Tuchel, with Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso said to be the preferred candidate for the hot seat.

Alonso is also reportedly willing to manage Bayern Munich after his stay at Bayer Leverkusen, with speculations indicating that the Spaniard is keen on managing the German giants over Merseyside-based Liverpool.
