Jurgen Klopp has become the 3rd Liverpool manager to lift the English League Cup trophy on more than one occasion.

The Reds defeated Chelsea by a lone goal from Virgil Van Dijk to win the League Cup on Sunday, February 25, 2024.

That signified the second time that Klopp would be winning the English League Cup also known as Carabao Cup since he became Liverpool boss in 2015.

Jurgen Klopp defeated Chelsea to win the trophy on both occasions, winning 11-10 on penalties after playing out a 0-0 draw in regulation time and extra time.

The game was looking like it was heading for similar routes on Sunday, February 25, 2024, but a crucial goal from Van Dijk in the dying embers of extra time changed the outlook of the affair.

Raheem Sterling thought he had put Chelsea ahead in the first 45, however, his goal was chalked off after Nicolas Jackson who laid the pass, was adjudged to have been in an offside position.

Liverpool also went ahead initially through a header from Virgil Van Dijk, but his goal was dismissed after Wataru Endo was said to have interfered with play from an offside position.

The 2023/24 Carabao Cup final witnessed the best of football, with chances falling aplenty to either side before Van Dijk rose clutch for his side.

Jurgen Klopp pulled the right strings in that final, making needed changes that were helpful to Liverpool's course.

He was lauded for how he marshaled his team despite battling many injury issues.

Ryan Grabenberch was also stretched off the game in the first half after Moises Caicedo stamped on his leg.

Gomez was brought on in his stead, and the Englishman still accentuated quality on the football pitch.

The Ghen-Ghen pressing expert saw his side delineate his principles to the latter, as they went gung-ho right from the blast of the whistle till the very end.

Despite looking jaded at some point in the game, Jurgen Klopp was able to tweak his side to higher altitudes.

Meanwhile, Bob Paisley and Gerard Houllier are the other managers, who won the League Cup on more than one occasion, with the latter leading the Reds to the trophy on 2 occasions, while the former led Liverpool to win it on 3 different occasions.

Jurgen Klopp's addition to that illustrious list certainly proves and shows that he is one of the best tacticians in the world today.

The late Gérard Houllier was manager of Liverpool from 1998 to 2004, while Bob Paisley, who died in 1996, managed the English giants from 1974 to 1983.

Both managers were top names during their managerial days and they did impressive things at Liverpool before they exited the club.
