Tinubu seeks court order to obtain materials to defend his election
Bola Ahmed Tinubu has requested from the court of appeal, access to the documents and materials that were used during thes elections which which were recently concluded. These materials are the ones used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the election.
The elections were held on the 25th of February which was about 2 weeks ago.
He has prepared to defend his election as the president of Nigeria. Some petitions have been made to nullify the elections especially from the opposing parties and supports and Tinubu requested for these dovument in order to defend himself against such.
His lawyer in the person of Mr Akintola Makinde mentioned yesterday, March 7 that he would scan these documents and make make photocopies of then in order to inspect them.
Atiku Abubakar the candidate for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi the Labour Party (LP) candidate who are the major opposition parties for APC have pushed for these documents as well. The appeal of The Labour Party (LP) and Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) for these INEC documents have been granted few days ago by the court of appeal on the 3rd of March.
Onyechi Ikpeazu who is the legal counsel for the Labour Party (LP) has requested that his team be allowed to inspect the BVAS (bimodal voter accreditation system) so as to carry out their investigations.
Tanimu inuwa who is INEC’S legal counsel has dismissed this request because he believes it may affect the governorship elections which is coming up soon.
With regards to Tinubu’s appeal for these documents, the court has moved the sitting of this appeal to Wednesday.
