The election tribunal has ruled out the petition of Labour Party governorship aspirant Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.
The Labour Party governorship aspirant Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour filed a petition against Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu challenging the 2023 gubernatorial election results.
In his petition, the LP governorship aspirant asked the court to annul the gubernatorial elections on the grounds of electoral malpractices.
Rhodes-Vivour said Sanwo-Olu didn't garner most of the votes as recorded during the election. He said the election results were heavily manipulated and there was election violence in various areas in the state. Therefore the election should be annulled because it isn't in line with the 2022 Electoral Act.
In his prayers, he also included that Sanwo-Olu's running mate, Obafemi Hamzat had renounced his Nigerian citizenship after obtaining citizenship in the United States.
In turn, the tribunal which was headed by Justice Arum Ashom rejected the petition of Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and Labour Party affirming Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the governor of state.
Meanwhile, the Labour Party and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour have rejected the judgment revealing that they are moving their petition to the court of appeal.
