President Donald Trump of the United States revealed to reporters on Monday he’s taking the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine in an effort to prevent getting coronavirus, saying he’s been taking a pill every day for about a week and a half, according to a Fox News report.
“I’m taking it – hydroxychloroquine,” the president told reporters during a roundtable with restaurant leaders in the White House’s State Dining Room.
He added: “I think it’s good. I’ve heard a lot good stories. And if it’s not good, I’ll tell you right, I’m not going to get hurt by it.”
The president started taking the drug hydroxychloroquine after consulting his physician, he is basically taking the drug as a form of vaccine or preventive aid against the virus, although it's widely used against malaria and some other illnesses, medical practitioners have debunked the claim that it is effective against the corona virus as it has been tested on people with and without the virus. They have also said that the drug hydroxychloroquine is very detrimental to people with existing heart issues,of which President Trump himself is included.
