Microblogging platform, Twitter has fired about 200 of its staff in the latest Tech Layoffs globally. The social media platform was in the news last year, as they decided to sack thousands of their staff, reducing their headcount.

The latest from them highlights that they have let go about 10% of its roughly 2000 workforce working for the company. Remember that Elon Musk acquired the social media platform in October of last year, and has made so many decisions.

Why more layoffs from Twitter

The layoffs were noticed when the firm made it difficult for Twitter employees to speak with one another for a week, there were layoffs. Five current and former employees told The New York Times that the company's internal messaging application, Slack, was pulled offline, prohibiting employees from communicating with each other or checking up on the company on data.

Three of the people claimed that on Saturday night, some employees realized that they had been logged out of their work laptops and email accounts. This was the first sign that company had started another set of layoffs.

The depth of the cuts was becoming apparent by Sunday morning. While staff who had kept their employment hurried to use encrypted messaging services like Signal to find out who else was left, some Twitter employees used the site to write farewell messages.

Three persons reported that by Saturday night, the remaining workers had also lost access to a Google chat service linked to their company email accounts.

Who were the affected staff?

He fires the team members who worked on machine learning and site stability, which keeps Twitter's many features operational, including product managers, data scientists, and engineers. Also, people with knowledge of the situation indicated that the monetization infrastructure team, which manages the services through which Twitter generates revenue, was downsized from 30 to less than eight personnel.

Several founding members of small tech companies that Twitter had acquired over the years were among those affected by the layoffs. These included Haraldur Thorleifsson, the creator of the design studio Ueno, which Twitter acquired in 2021, and Esther Crawford, who co-founded the screen-sharing and video chat application Squad and recently oversaw Twitter's effort to charge users for verification check marks. 3 people familiar with the compensation packages said that several of the founders obtained greater compensation packages as part of the acquisitions of their businesses, which might make it more expensive to fire them as their stock and bonuses are paid out.

The round of layoffs that took place on Saturday was one of the biggest since Mr. Musk informed staff members in a meeting that there were no more plans for workforce reductions in late November. After taking ownership of Twitter for one week in early November, Mr. Musk fired over half of the company's workforce in a mass layoff. Since then, Twitter's workforce has been reduced to a little over 2,000 people through smaller layoffs and resignations.

In conclusion

At the Global Government Summit held in Dubai this month, Mr. Musk stated: "I think I need to stabilize the organization and simply make sure it's in a financially sound place.

"I'm guessing probably towards the end of this year would be good timing to find someone else to run the company, because I think it should be in a stable position around the end of this year."

So many news surrounding layoffs this year, and over 10,000 has been affected by the layoff among different companies of the world.
