Two EKEDC staff electrocuted in Lagos


Two staff of the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) in Lagos State were electrocuted recently in Lagos.

The incident happened on the Lagos Island at Obalande area in the state.

The Police Command in Lagos State have confirmed the news of this incident today, Sunday. The incident was indeed a sad one.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin who is the Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos was the one who confirmed the incident to journalists.

He revealed that a member of staff at EKEDC had reported the incident to the Lion Building Division of the police command on Saturday evening around 5:55pm.


This staff had reported that his colleague had been electrocuted while he was digging to find a faulty transformer cable.

They identified this man who was digging as Umaru.

The witness also revealed that when Umaru had gotten electrocuted, another staff member whose name is Sunday Awaruwa, had attempted to rescue him and also got electrocuted.

The two victims are 51 years and 48 years old respectively.

The police visited the scene and were able to rescue them and rushed them to the hospital.
It was there the doctor confirmed they were dead
They have taken their bodies to the morgue.
