Two women arrested for trying to sell a two month old baby

Two women have been arrested for attempting to sell a 2 month old baby.

It was some operatives of the Rapid Response Squad who arrested these women.

This was announced on the twitter page of the command on Saturday. The statement released was signed by SP Benjamin Hundeyin who is the command’s Police Public Relations Officer,.

The statement read that they had arrested 2 women on Friday, 26th of May, 2023 who were trying to sell this baby.

They uncovered this deal when a woman who has been identified as Oge Okolie was suspected to have stolen the baby. This was in oshodi when she was on a bus and the baby kept crying.

She was the intermediary between the mother of the child and the person who wanted to buy the child.

When the baby kept crying, other passengers wondered why she couldn't best feed the baby if the baby belonged to her.

Some Rapid Response Squad operatives had intervened in the matter.

Investigations were conducted and they found the mother of the baby, Maria Ahmadu and made the arrest

The suspects and 2 month old baby have been transferred to the Gender Unit of the Command for further investigation and prosecution.
